Care of the Soul. Thomas Moore

I walked the labyrinth on Sunday and the message that will guide me during settling into this house is Serenity, Order, Simplicity ~SOS~. As anyone who has seen the house knows, we have a long way to go. But a move of 10,000 pounds begins with a single box.

This was our last military move.  I have bulked up since leaving West Point with two footlockers and a set of skis. What made this move “interesting,” besides not having household items delivered until 6 months after moving in, was having police presence. Someone reported the moving van for blocking the street.  As if I needed more incentive to prune things, less stuff will allow us to live lightly and expedite future moves.

Figuring that it may be years before I go through the unpacking, sorting, culling process again, I am trying to be ruthless with what to keep.  And I’ll start with books… Since we live 3 blocks from the library, I’ll let the library keep track of books rather than trying to duplicate its services.
